The most glamorous night in Hollywood sends over a billion people around the world a message of glitter and gold with Oscar winners and a 3 hour presentation of what makes Hollywood so special and relevant every year. From art deco to metal, gold to pure white, intricate beading and embellishments providing an Art Deco feel (and modern day “Gone with the Wind” look) to Blade Runner glamour, the hot looks of the night were Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Jessica Chastain, Selma Hayek, Catherine Zeta Jones, Charlize Theron, Adele, Jennifer Hudson, Shirley Bassey, Zoe Saldana and Queen Latifah.

Skin, or should I say ‘gorgeous glowing skin’ can be achieved by using water based foundation with a thicker coverage or cream to powder foundation for longer wear which provides a matt finish, (or tinted moisturiser all over the face). To maintain the look all night, blotting Rice sheets are used to soak up shine or pressed powders are preferred for touchups, due to their not transferring any makeup onto the garments.
Cheek glow
Cream blushes to hot new liquid highlighters with a light hue of pigment in pink, coral, mauve creates a lustrous glow to the skin, and provides a slight dewy finish on the apples of the cheeks. This year cheek colour was hot, defined, contoured and sculpted to show more drama to the onlookers.
Eyes
Cake Eyeliner in Black to smoky cream pencils were applied in a soft line for a defined look while not being obtrusive, The crease area of the eyes were softly contoured by celebrity makeup artists to provide a trendy look to create a fashion palette that was second to none.
Eyeshadows
Tones is grey lavender, lilacs, soft shell pins, creams, nudes, gold, black and warm light browns dominated the Red Carpet. Individual to strip lashes provided more density to the eye area to create the va-va-voom lashes.
Lips
Lip looks were in rich reds, nudes, brown pinks, coral, fuchsia pink were evident and defined with soft lip liners to hold colours into place. A touch of gloss provided enough shine to create fullness and moisturised lips. Brands like Chanel, Dior, Lancôme, MAC, and Makeup Forever created the perfect Vibe.
Beauty
Even though there were some big hits (and some misses with hair, makeup and styling), overall, the Fashion Police of Hollywood rated the highest watched Academy Award ever a 10. It appears that from Baby Boomers to Generations X, Y and Millennials, that everyone wants to be part of something special, even though it’s just for one night. Hollywood we celebrate you!
